Cindy Small
Cindy Small has been an artist for most of her life using a variety of media and processes including found object assemblage, collage, painting, and drawing. Her artwork has typically been figurative using lots of color.
Cindy has always created a home that reflects her art and incorporates an odd assortment of memorabilia. It’s a very symbiotic relationship, and one that is always transforming itself. Colors, textures, and collected objects in the house and garden are found in her paintings, and what she paints end up influencing her home.

Often times Cindy’s work is a reflective and strange mix of respect and curiosity for tragedy, and an appreciation for dark humor. Her family’s stories get translated into the artwork in both subtle and obvious ways. She finds further inspiration for color, pattern, and environments from a myriad of sources, including odd travel postcards, Mexican festivals, East Indian textiles, circus freak show characters, and fairy tales from various cultures.
