Tom and Denise’s House and Studio

I knew from the moment I saw Denise and Tom’s house that it was inhabited by some very special people with a unique eye and playful spirit. I knocked on the door. Indeed, it was everything I expected and more!

Denise’s art is about making everything in life art. She paints everything from doors to stairs, walls, cars, furniture and canvas. Here is her fabulous kitchen, decorated with flowers and inset tiles.

This colorfully painted dinette set is an example of Denise’s work, with elaborately painted chairs and table, set in a bright corner of the orange and yellow painted room.

Their living room is a riot of brilliant color, interspersed with paintings and art by both Denise and Tom.

This is Tom’s studio. Tom’s art is about “shank”, that feeling you get when you think everything is going your way and then it doesn’t. (Personally, I get that feeling quite a bit!) His studio is filled with art, paintings, sculptures, and odd bits and pieces.

This is one of Tom’s many Garden Gnome paintings – his house is full of these paintings — and several of the real thing!

Here is just one of many totemic art sculptures created by Tom. There are several variations of these characters scattered around the house and studio, made of wood, bits of metal, shells, coins, and found objects.

Here’s one of the friendly Gnomes that inhabit the garden of Tom and Denise. For a website that features Garden Gnomes, go to one of Tom & Marlow’s favorites: Die Screaming With Sharp Things in Your Head.
