Live in Seattle near Noras Woods

Nora’s Woods: A short stroll down the block is the charming pocket park of “Nora’s Woods”. Nora’s Woods is a wooded city park and native plant garden in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The 0.35-acre house lot-sized wooded area is named for Seattleite Nora Woods, who purchased the land in 1987 that was given to The Trust for Public Land after her death in 1989. Today, the park is lovingly maintained by its neighbors.

Golden Wheat Bakery: A neighborhood favorite is Golden Wheat Bakery not only sells delicious cookies, cakes, cupcakes, sweets and coffee, but has tamales and sandwiches.  The croissants are said to be some of the best in the city.

Madrona Park: Just over the hill is Madrona Park, a sweet 2 acre park, bisected by Lake Washington Boulevard. It lies on the western shore of Lake Washington and features picnic areas, a swimming beach with bathhouse, and parking area.  There’s a sand beach for the little kids and lifeguards for those who venture into the water in the summertime.  The perfect place for a picnic!

Madrona Farmers Market: The Market is located just a few blocks away on MLK & Union and is open every Friday, May through October. They serve residents of the Central District, Cherry Hill, Madison Valley, Madrona, and Madison Park and offer a range of seasonal produce from Washington farmers, fishers and ranchers. You’ll also find an extraordinary variety of artisan foods made from locally grown ingredients sourced directly from Washington family farms.

Madrona Business District:  One of the most charming “high streets” in Seattle, Madrona’s historic 34th Avenue features high-end restaurants from some of Seattle’s star chefs, neighborhood eateries, ice cream, coffee, cupcakes, a fish shop, a wine shop, a dry cleaners, and a wonderful playground. In short: everything you need is right here in Madrona! Summer concerts on the park lawn, the annual Mayfair parade, and Halloween trick-or-treating are just some of the awesome community events that happen on 34th Ave. The elementary school is nearby and great restaurants including Madrona Ale House, Molly Moons, Hi-Spot and Verite Coffee.  There are also some fun retails shops, including Hitchcock, Juniper and Glassy Baby.

Top 10 Things the owners love about their home!

1) The light! Every time people enter our living room for the first time they say, “So this is where all the light is!” This is a huge feature here in grey Seattle.
2) Cocktails and dinner on our deck while watching the sun set.
3) Upstairs laundry. Enough said. We will never go back.
4) Our wonderful neighbors, many of whom have lived in the neighborhood for decades.
5) Nora’s Woods, the best little community-maintained park in Seattle, our “back yard” and the place where we’ve gotten to know so many great neighbors.
6) Madrona Farmer’s Market–it’s walking distance! So dreamy.
7) The lake, the beach, and the endless charming pathways that get you there.
8) Our lovely, Italianate alley–a little bit of country in the heart of the city.
9) 34th Avenue, Madrona’s high street, which is so charming and hosts so many fantastic community events, including Mayfair, Thursday evening park concerts in the summer, and Halloween trick-or-treating.
10) Food! Our incredible kitchen can stand up to your biggest culinary ambitions, but you are also steps from some of the best restaurants in Seattle, including Red Cow, Vendemmia, Fat’s Chicken and Waffles (get there early on the weekend to beat the line!), and numerous fantastic Ethiopian options (Agelgil and Meskel are our favorites).
