GUEST LECTURE
Kirsten Anderson
Pop Surrealism: The Rise of
Underground Art
Join Kirsten Anderson for a peek into the history, development and current state of the Pop Surrealism/Lowbrow art movement that started in the 60s in Southern California and is now a worldwide phenomena. The movement is now getting grudging, if bewildered, respect from the High Art World, and while it remains slightly vilified, is voraciously collected by forward-thinking collectors. Anderson will also answer Pop Surrealism questions from the audience.

Kirsten Anderson is the owner of the internationally known Roq La Rue Gallery, and is the editor of the book Pop Surrealism The Rise Of Underground Art. She has also curated a museum show in Colorado based upon the book, and was a guest lecturer at the 2005 Mark Ryden Wondertoonel exhibition at the Frye Art Museum.

The Art of Lisa Petrucci

Lisa Petrucci is a groovy artist living and working in Seattle and have been painting pop imagery on wood slabs since about 1990.

She’s obsessed with pin-ups and pop culture and her paintings are reflective of her various interests – from collecting sleazy vintage men’s magazines and watching sexploitation sinema from the 50’s & 60’s; to the toys, dolls, television shows, comics and collectibles from her childhood.
